PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Lactobacillus paracasei is a gram-positive, facultatively heterofermentative species of lactic acid bacteria that are commonly used in dairy product fermentation and probiotics. L. paracasei is a bacterium that operates by commensalism. It is commonly found in many human habitats such as our intestinal tracts and mouths as well as sewages, silages, and previously mentioned dairy products. The name includes morphology, a rod-shaped bacterium with a width of 2.0 to 4.0μm and length of 0.8 to 1.0μm.

ACID TOLERANCE
Acid resistance of Lactobacillus paracasei HH-LP58 powder was carried out at either pH=2.0 and pH=3.0 for up to 4 hours. The microbial enumeration of Lactobacillus paracasei HH-LP58 should be performed no more frequently than at the initial(as control), 1 hour, 2 hour, and 4 hour time points. The Fig 1 illustrates that Lactobacillus paracasei HH-LP58 can survive at low pH conditions, which means this strain has good acid resistance.

BILE SALT TOLERANCE
Bile salt resistance of Lactobacillus paracasei HH-LP58 powder was carried out at either 0.2% and 0.3% bile salt for up to 4 hours. The microbial enumeration of Lactobacillus paracasei HH-LP58 should be performed no more frequently than at the initial(as control), 1 hour, 2 hour, and 4 hour time points. The Fig 2 illustrates that Lactobacillus paracasei HH-LP58 can survive at high concentration of bile salt, which means this strain has good bile salt resistance.

STORAGE STABILITY
Lactobacillus paracasei HH-LP58 powder were sealed in aluminum foil bag, maintained at -18℃ for 24 months for long-term stability test. The microbial enumeration of Lactobacillus paracasei HH-LP58 should be performed no more frequently than at the initial, 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24 month time points. According to Fig 3, the potency of Lactobacillus paracasei HH-LP58 powder was 5.1×1011 CFU/g. After a storage period of 24 months, the potency of the powder was 3.3×1011CFU/g. It means that this strain can remain stable for long time if stored at low temperature.

HEALTH BENEFITS
1. Immunomodulation
IgG is the main low molecular weight immunoglobulin present in mammalian serum, and makes up 75% of serum immunoglobulins. After 30-days intragastric administration of L. casei PB-LC39 in mice, the results (Fig 4.) showed that L.paracasei HH-LP58 can increase serum IgG level in a dose-dependent manner.

2. Oral health
Streptococcus mutans are gram-positive cocci shaped bacteria. These facultative anaerobes are commonly found in the human oral cavity, and is a major contributor of tooth decay. In experiment(Fig 5.), we found that L.paracasei HH-LP58 can inhibit Streptococcus mutant colonization, leading to lower risk of tooth decay.
