Description
Lactobacillus plantarum N-1 is isolated from traditional Chinese cheese, preserved in CGMCC with preservation number of CGMCC 15463, preparing functional food with the capabilities of reducing cholesterol,prevent ethylene glycol-induced kidney stones and improving benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Stability
The study showed that L. plantarum N-1 was resistant to acid and bile salts, with the highest survival rates of 98.0 and 99.1% at pH 3.5 and 0.1% bile salts compared to other strains. This strain has the ability to adhere to the gut and antibacterial activity. In addition, the N-1 culture supernatant inhibited the growth of Escherichia coli. These features ensure the survival of L. plantarum N-1 in the gut.
