AKK postbiotic help weight control and improve insulin sensitivity by 30%!

"Nature Medicine" published a clinical trial of Akk bacterium intervention from Patrice D Cani's team at the University of Leuven in Belgium. The results show that supplementing inactivated Akkermansia bacteria can significantly improve multiple metabolic indicators in overweight/obese insulin-resistant patients!

In short, AKK live bacteria have the same effects as dead bacteria. Breaking the mainstream view, only eating live bacteria is effective, and multiple data show that Akk dead bacteria may be more effective than live bacteria!

The study included 32 overweight/obese volunteers with insulin resistance and conducted a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled experiment. The results show that Akk dead bacteria may be more effective than live bacteria.

Two researchers, Noora Ottman and Judith Klievink, isolated a protein called Amuc_1100 that is found in the outer membrane of bacteria and remains active after heating to 70°C. In addition, the inactivation technology avoids risks such as bacterial infection by live bacteria. Researchers speculate that this makes the inactivation of AKK bacteria more effective.

Significantly lower LPS

1. Compared with the placebo group, the Akk dead bacteria group significantly improved the insulin sensitivity index (about 30%), while the live bacteria group significantly improved the insulin resistance score.

2. Compared with the baseline, DPP4 activity in the Akk dead bacteria group was significantly reduced. But this parameter remained stable in the placebo and live bacteria groups. *DPP4 is an enzyme and when this enzyme is inhibited, inflammation levels decrease.

3. Compared with placebo, the Akk dead bacteria group significantly reduced total cholesterol by 8.68%, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol by 7.53%, and triglycerides by 15.71%.

4. Akk dead bacteria can significantly reduce plasma lipopolysaccharide (LPS) levels, and markers of tissue damage and muscle damage are also reduced. A large number of studies have shown that endotoxins such as LPS can cause liver damage and insulin resistance. Researchers have also previously found that Akk can enhance intestinal barrier function.

5. Compared with the placebo group, the volunteers in the oral Akk killed bacteria group lost 2.27kg in weight, about 1.37kg in fat, and 2.63cm in hip circumference.

6. All participating volunteers found it to be safe and well tolerated, and did not affect the overall structure of the intestinal flora.
