The Group Standard Of Instant Probiotics Food Is Officially Released

      Ready-to-eat/instant probiotics Food is a probiotic food, which refers to food that has been added with probiotics and the number of live probiotics meets certain requirements during the shelf life. This type of food is centered on active lactic acid bacteria, uses pure lactic acid bacteria powder, and is detailed to the precise strain. It can only be used for production after strain identification and certification. Ready-to-eat lactic acid bacteria powder checks the strain's safety, stability, and clinical data, which is the most basic and core guarantee for the quality of probiotic products. Compared with probiotic solid beverages, ready-to-eat lactic acid bacteria powder is more scientific in adding auxiliary materials, and can only add ingredients such as prebiotics that contribute to the stability of live bacteria and survival and metabolism. In addition, ready-to-eat lactic acid bacteria powder has high requirements for strain activity. Recently, according to the relevant provisions of the "China Health Association Group Standard Management Measures (Trial)", the "Instant Probiotic Food" (T/CHC1008-2023) group standard has been approved by the China Health Association after the project establishment, drafting, solicitation of opinions, review and other standard formulation procedures.

This standard was jointly researched and formulated by authoritative institutions such as the Nutrition and Health Institute of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as many leading probiotic suppliers at home and abroad. H&H Bio/Probioway participated in the formulation of this standard as a deputy group leader and provided many valuable industry opinions.

The newly released "Standard" clearly stipulates that within the shelf life, the total number of live probiotics in instant probiotic foods must be ≥10^7CFU/g and processed probiotic foods should be able to meet the requirements for the number of live bacteria in the end product.

 

『Standard Introduction』

This standard not only provides an authoritative definition of "Instant probiotic food" at the industry level but also clearly defines the classification and naming, raw material requirements, sensory requirements, contaminant limits, microbial indicators, food additives and food nutrient enhancers, labeling, packaging, storage, transportation, and other links. Some quality and technical indicators are better than relevant national standards.

The group standard states that probiotic food refers to "food that has probiotics added and the number of live probiotics meets certain requirements during the shelf life". The probiotic strains used should comply with the "List of Bacteria that can be used in Food" and the announcement issued by the state and the "List of Probiotics that can be used in Health Food" and the announcement, or comply with the list of bacteria for health food approved and registered by the state. The probiotic strains used should meet the following conditions:

• The strain number and isolation source should be clear;

• It needs to be identified, preserved, and evaluated for safety by a third-party organization;

• It needs to undergo whole genome sequencing and be supported by relevant scientific literature;

• There is scientific literature supporting its positive evaluation of human or clinical trials.
